1) I have no comment on the Onyx.

2) Massively parallel machines are the future of supercomputing, I believe. 
However, the massively parallel machines may well have Intel chips. The Intel
Paragons are currently very formidable machines. I expect the next massively 
parallel supercomputer from Intel may well have Pentium chips.

3) Distributed computing will continue to grow in importance for many, many 
applications. Only a few (embarassingly parallel) "number crunching" 
applications will tolerate the limited bandwidth of the net, though.
