I ahve been following the MPI standard for some time but have not seen
any proposed extensions for use in coarse grained systems like
VAX clusters. My interest is in using MPI to implement ditributed lock
managers and page managers for databses in cluster based systems.
While the standard MPI interface seems suitable for the most
part for such an application, I have concerns about message latencies,
performance issues dealing with double buffering and process to
process communication. Has anybody used MPI in such applications
and if so, what has your experience been ? I suppose if I am correct in
my assumptions I could go ahead and propose an MPI extension.
