This is to announce the availability of a new book, "Using MPI: Portable
Programming with the Message-Passing Interface", by William Gropp, Ewing Lusk,
and Anthony Skjellum. It was published by MIT Press on October 21, 1994. It
can be ordered now from MIT Press, although it will not be in stores for a few
weeks.

The table of contents, together with ordering information from MIT Press and
unflattering pictures of the authors, is available on the World Wide Web at
http://www.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/usingmpi.

"Using MPI" is a tutorial on how to use the new standard message-passing
library interface called MPI to write portable, parallel programs. It starts
with very simple examples using a miminal subset of the MPI specification and
progresses to examples that illustrate some of the more powerful concepts of
MPI. Examples from the book are freely available at
ftp://info.mcs.anl.gov/pub/mpi/using.
